Default More CDL install woes

I finally got my CDL installed and everything put back together, but now my Hi/Lo Selector is hitting the right hand side of the plastic cutout the boot clips into in the console . When I move it left to engage the CDL, I can feel something actuating once I reach the end of the travel. As soon as I move it (the ****) about 1" to the right it doesn't seem to actuate anything, and will move all the way over until it hits the plastic. Even with the lever all the way to the right the red CDL light light is on, and now that I've had to turn the car off with CDL on I also have the TC and ABS lights on. I'm guessing that maybe I didn't adjust the cable length down enough, but before I completely take apart my console again I want to know if this sounds right. Also, there's a chance I could just extend the opening another 3/4" to the right, which may let the lever go over far enough to turn off the CDL. Any thoughts?

Did you get a D1 cdl shifter or aftermarket?

With my D1 cdl shifter, the whole I cut wasn't big enough and had to be enlarged. Also, getting the rod bent to exactly the right length was a big pain.

It was much more of asspain than I was expecting.

It's an Ashcroft CDL kit. I had to enlarge the opening in the metal pan to accommodate the left and right movement, but now it's hitting the plastic trim the shift boot follows.

This is a picture of what the linkage looks like, I think maybe if I back out the nut on the right hand side of the bracket, and then tighten the one on the left side, it will pull the cable in tighter? Not sure though.

I believe it's the other way around. Won't hurt to try it either way though, just mark where you started from.

There are some useful pics from jyscalas' site which may help. Take a look at his first pic which shows the angle of the link-plate:

Yeah I did most of my install based off of the directions from the lucky8 video. Unfortunately the video doesn't show how the adjust the cable length (or even say that it might need to be done). It just goes from the linkage being unattached to completely assembled with the console out back together.

I would disconnect the cable from the arm on the nipple and make sure the cdl is disengaged. The move the shifter to where you want it. Then adjust the cable and hook it back up.

Found the culprit. Apparently Ashcroft decided to use the cheapest pin imaginable to attach the lever to the cable. So whatever was retaining it snapped off the first time I moved the lever. At least that's proof that it's a genuine UK product!
