Hey guys,

Any ideas as to the cause of this?

Thanks,

Look to see if a roller came out of it's track? There is the OEM style with rollers & some aftermarket use square pieces which slide in the track. Don't force anything or you could bend the regulator by running it up/down if it's off track.

I'll check tomorrow. I think it's Terrafirma, but maybe Britpart.

looks like the same system my old E36 BMW used, make sure the tracks are clean of all the old grease and add new. After a few tens of thousands of miles, the grease tends to get "sticky" and act more like a glue than a lubricant.

It's a very new Terrafirma window regulator. The part itself failed, it seems it's gone too low. The glass is hitting part of the door. I'm just gonna replace it, I don't trust it.

My passenger side did the same exact thing. Brand new part from Atlantic British. It drops out of the tracks just like that.

I replaced mine last year and it has held up well for far. I know it is a Britpart where the product quality can be suspect at times. But it has held up well so far. Not bad for the entire assy and motor for $85.

Good luck!

Lucky8 sells one, and as far as I can tell it seems to be a rebuilt original. I have most trust in that. I'll update you guys on Monday.

I replaced my new window regulator and new motor with this from LRNJ about 10 months ago (strange, they have now priced it at $2K):

Well, it is no longer working. Same affliction as the video posted by the original poster (jacobstein) in the video above.

I took door panel off, checked the window regulator and motor. The 10 month old motor still works. I check the teeth of the 10 month old regualtor assembly. Still in great condition. The rollers are round and not broken. The tracks are lined with grease. However, the regulator keeps getting stuck and over-extended at the bootom, and won't raise up.

Any ideas on what to check next?
