When you went through the firewall, did you go through an existing grommet or drill through? When you remove the cover beneath the steering wheel, you can see all the wiring coming through right there, I'm guessing? Just want to know what I can before starting off without knowing what I'm doing.

Where did you run the green ground wire though? I'm thinking I'll look for something like where I ran the 3 Amigos Option B grounding ring.

Did you bother with the dimming function on the gauge with the orange wire, or you just grounded that one too? Do you know what color wire in the D2's wire loom, the positive headlamp wire is?

Hoping to be able to manage this with your help.

Looking good, cheers

s13 I just put a stake on connector
firewall I just went through where the wires go through you can see them when you open the cover under steering wheel
Never bothered with the diming function
ground you can or find anywhere

Thanks rwk, do you mind showing this "stake on connector" you used? Just ordered the gauge Hopefully I'll figure this out...

AKA spade connector.

For a ground connection, use a crimped ring on one of the bolts that holds the fusebox sub-assembly in place.

Oh I see - didn't know that term (I know it as a spade connector for grounding).

I have some of each type, so I'll try to locate the fusebox sub-assembly and see what I can do. Just so I'm totally clear, is this the panel that's beyond the firewall beneath the steering wheel, or in the panel next to the battery that's above the oil pump?

Thank you

I’m actually going to tap into #10 fuse with one if these to use the headlight switched dimming feature as it’s pretty bright at night

Is S10 just beneath S13 in the fuse box? Is there a name for that type of connector?

I'm not sure why my oil pump cover broke in that location when I tried to fit the M20 adapter... I was told that it was already cracked.

when I was putting that adapter in it really does thread all the way in. It doesn’t get tight in the back of my head I thought holy when is it going to stop ? Looking at yours the same way. You got to the end and cracked it. You really have to watch aluminum.
when I first got the inline thermostat mod I cracked the housing putting in the plug for the port with the Allen key

Sorry to hear that about the thermostat - I'll have to watch for that too.

About how many rounds of Teflon did you use? I also felt that the M20 adapter didn't feel tight and worried about it leaking oil and giving a bad reading... Did you end up tightening it all the way or leaving it back just a bit? I got the gauge today. I'll get the new SKP cover next week and then I'll see where I get. Thanks rwk

Always use silicone on the threads, not teflon tape. Teflon tape is a technology from last century before there was silicon. I have no used it in 15 years at least. The plug in the oil pump housing just needs to be a bit more tan snug, plug in the thermostat housing a bit more than that. Probably 100 in lbs on the oil pump housing, 200 in lbs on the thermostat housing plug. That's in lbs, not ft-lbs.
