Default NEED QUICK HELP with today's front driveshaft install project!

Hi All,

I am working on replacing the factory front driveshaft with the British Parts of Utah heavy duty driveshaft:

Land Rover Discovery 2 II Heavy Duty Front Driveshaft Drive Shaft Propeller TVB000110 TVB000320

I have quick a bit of slip joint spline exposed next to the catalytic converter (please see pics). I am wondering if I have adequate internal slip joint footprint shaft inside the shaft. (I extended the slip joint fully... as well as finger tapped the main shaft.... it appears half of the slip joint is exposed).

I am new to Discos and hear something about a short and long driveshaft version..... or am I confusing it with another topic?

Just checking to see if anyone here has installed a BP Utah front driveshaft.... and if it is supposed to look like the attached pic? Just wondering if I was shipped the correct driveshaft version.

I would appreciate a quick answer as I am right in the middle of the project this afternoon.

THANKS!!!

Was that picture taken with the front end jacked up or flat on the ground?

I have the same driveshaft. Mine looks exactly like that installed. It's just the design. I've had 0 problems and no vibrations. Make sure you keep it greased.

The difference between the early and late shaft is .5", they will both work as long as you've got new springs or a lift, the long version will not work 99-02 Discos if the suspension is old and saggy. I have dealt much with this issue, and it is why Justin at Proshaft offers 2 versions.

The front wheels are elevated and actually resting on steel ramps.

Thanks to all for the feedback.

I tightened everything up and went for a quick test drive. Noticed a slight wobble at 70 mph+.

BP Utah warranties the driveline to be balanced at both low and high speeds.

I have to take off and coaching my kids soccer team this evening. Will give it a closer look tomorrow.
