Default New Brakes; Hard to Stop, Pedal Goes to Floor

Hello,

I have been a viewer of these forums for quite some time now, but have never bothered to register until now. I was hoping I could get your help on my brake issue. My uncle replaced my brake pads on my 2001 Discover II earlier this morning. He had to leave immediately after he finished so I feel like he might have rushed through it. My brakes are worse now than they were before! the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor, the car is difficult to stop, and i feel a slight pull every once in a while. He says it could be air in the system, what do you all think? Thank you for your help

Did it go to the floor just the first time? It's normal after replacing the brakes on any car to have to pump the pedal a couple of times the the very first time.

No, I pumped the pedal after he left for quite some time. I then drove it to class and back and the brake pedal is still very loose.

He took off these small steel plates that were clipped on to the back of the pads before he installed them, do you think that could be the issue?

If all he did was replace the pads, there's no reason air should have gotten into the system. Did he disconnect the brake lines for some reason? If so the brakes would have to be bled to remove any air that would have gotten into the system.

He may have allowed air into the system when trying to collapse the 2 pistons in the front caliper.
Do Not drive it till he rechecks it and does a full 2 quart brake fluid flush.
