Default New engine rough idle

Finished up the install of a replacement engine in my ‘03 Disco 2 and cranked it for the first time today. Focused on the correct break in of my cams so kept RPM’s between 2000 and 3000 for about 30 minutes. Only real issue I ran into aside for a couple of minor leaks was an inconsistent idle. Anyone have an explanation for why it would almost stall out every once in a while? Never died but RPM’s dropped. I’ve attached a video. All O2 sensors are new, and it is only showing the ABS light, no three amigos or check engine lights.

Thanks for any ideas.

Were you able to find out what the issue was? I'm having a similar issue.

Thanks.

Bad mass airflow sensor! 100% cleared up when I swapped with my other Disco. Ordered just MAF sensor without housing, much cheaper FYI. However, has those pesky security type screw attaching it so make sure you can get it off!

Curious what brand MAF you ordered as I may have a similar issue. No reason to replace the entire housing.

Was a little hesitant to get an off brand but bought this from Oreilly’s so could return it just in case. Don’t have lots of miles on it yet but working great so far.

MF21155N Blue Streak
$80.99

MUCH cheaper than entire assembly.

Thank you for the part # and feedback. I hope that it continues to work well for you. Please let us know if you do encounter any issues with this MAF over time.
