Default New Guy...New clutch

I've posted this on the New members area but have had no replies,so thought I'd try here.
I own a '94 Disco 300 TDI with 98k on it.I've just had it in for a new rear main- bearing oil seal. The garage I use is not a main agent, but the mechanic is a qualified Landrover technician. He's serviced the disco for the last 10 yrs and always does a good job.
He recommended putting in a new clutch as he had to remove the gearbox and existing clutch to replace the faulty oil seal.
This was done....also,a new slave cylinder and fork was fitted.
I now find that the free travel on the pedal is approx. 80% of its movement and I have to depress the pedal hard down to the floor in order to engage/disengage gears.
From stationary, after engaging gear, the clutch engages immediately I lift my foot, sometimes resulting in a stall.
I've spoken with the garage and I'm told thats how it should be,as there is no adjustment.......would bleeding the hydraulics sort it?
Advice very much appreciated.

It's not right, it should be the same as before. The clutch automatocally adjusts for wear, but you can adjust the linakge and bite.

The linkage is short.. and at the back of the pedal, just thought, check your springs at the back of the pedal as well, when you look at the linakge.

The clutch is hydraulic for your info.. I don't have info on the disco clutch, but check your fluid level, just in case it is low.

I've checked the springs and fluid level...both OK.
Yet to adjust the linkage.Whats your thoughts on re- bleeding ?
p.s. I've heard the term "pressure bleeding".Does anybody know what this means.

Many thanks to Lighting90 and Bene

Hi

Went through exactly the same experience with mine. I was told that there is def no place to adjust and that the pressure will come back to pedal after a few days....and it did! I could not believe it myself. I was told that the system is self bleeding to a degree ance it is bled properly....but have also spoken to a workshop manager who lifted the front wheels of the Disco when bleeding as he felt that the bleed nipple on the slave cylinder was to low to purge all the air...but mine came right by itself... have heard of this happening to others as well... good luck

Thanks for that disco....I was beginning to think maybe the clutch is having to come out again.
You and the other guys have given me some useful info.

Current position is that I have now re-bleeded the system and although it appeared that no air was coming through, I finally got a firm pedal.... and its driving fine.
Thanks again everybody
