Default New guy w/ D/S parts question

I want to make sure I dont miss anything - 01 Disc 93k original driveshaft. Just noticed slight shake in the wheel and 65+, very little but still concerned me. After reading the horror stories I am going to replace it right away, but want to make sure I get all the necessary parts for the job. Done lots of searching, just want a 1 2 3 parts list to get going on this. I have become very familiar w/ my rover over the past 2 months replacing such things as the timing gear cover gasket, water pump/gasket, valley pan gasket, new pulleys & tensioner, new belt, new t-stat......on & on....I am going to do this job myself, I think I can handle it. Like I said, I just want to order all the parts that are needed and get busy, thinking Tom Woods shaft, but need to know what else is necessary for the fix to be done properly.

Thanks everyone!

I thought the tom woods is a whole unit, just unbolt old ds and bolt new one in. I could be wrong though, i have a d1.

are you planning on rebuilding you current drive shaft? or replacing it with a tom woods? if you want to rebuild you need greasable u joints and a centering ball kit.

I was just going to replace it. If the replacement is just one unit that is all I will need then right? Undo old and pop in the new? And if i rebuild I need the greasable U-joints and centering ball kit? Obviously the more expensive option of replacing it sounds much easier as far as DIY. How bad is it to rebuild the old one by yourself, and how much time? I am pretty mechanical, but time is hard to come by.

Thanks guys.

tom woods costs $350. if you want to do it yourself its about $50 in parts and 2 housr labor unless you get stuck with the centering ball kit which can prove problematic. some people bring it to a drive line specialist and for $100 have them do the labor and then do the install themselves...

Rebuilding a double cardon is not a walk in the park.
Send me your e-mail address and I'll send you a PDF file on the rebulid, read it and then if you are wise, go buy a Tom Woods drive shaft.

Check with Great Basin Rovers, they quoted me a total around $250 once I sent my old drive-shaft back to them for a credit.
