New To LRs
Hi -
I'm looking to buy a Land Rover Discovery. I'd be using it mainly as a "winter car".
A friend just called and said he knows of a 1994 5-speed (8 cyl, I live in the US) with 150K on it that I can get for next to nothing ($2000.00, maybe)
What kind of problems am I looking at with a vehicle with that kind of mileage on it? What begins to fail?
I've owned / own a number of British, Italian and French cars, so I'm no stranger to maintenance, but I don't want to get into something thatwould need work right away. With 150K on it what should have been replaced or may need to be replaced soon?
Thanks in advance for the advice.

RE: New To LRs
I have had mine for 34,000 miles (just turned 94,000) and find it to be a great vehicle. As long as the maintenance has been kept up nothing out of the ordinary (oil leaks, dash lights...may want to have any codes pulled off for reference) needs to be checked although I would advise looking at the front swivel ball joints...there was an upgrade to a permanent grease that may not have been done on the 94.
Happy motoring.....
