Default Noise upon acceleratoring and then when coasting.

I did a few searches but didn't come up with anything

But here is my issue. Upon letting up on the gas and letting it coast, I get a rattling noise. upon acceleration it stops. Drive shaft, U joints? Something else? I am not a mechanic so be easy on me with the terminology

Second, upon acceleration there is a slight noise maybe sounds like coming from tranny, it only occurs in the very first second of the acceleration, the more gas I give it the shorter the noise lasts. Kind;ve a little clunky sounding when accelerating for that first half second.

I know this is kind of vague.

So, have you ever had the front drive shaft rebuilt or rep;aced to prevent it from failing and taking the tranny with it, how often do you grease both drive shafts?

I just got the vehicle several weeks ago from a dealer. so I have not had much of anything done to it, I was going to go through that list in the "major service" thread in a couple weeks. After next Pay check. I cant be sure of what has been done to the vehicle for maintenance.

I just went out and checked it looks brand new and does have the greaseable joints

I would not drive it if it is making noise and hasn't been rebuilt or you could loose your tranny and then you will be in trouble.

is it a rattle or a thump? all of these things make noise when you get on and off the gas. It just has to do with the fulltime four wheel drive, there is a lot of play in the drive lines.

as for the first symptom its a rattling noise, seems like it my be coming from the suspension the more I think about it, as opposed to a drive shaft or something of that nature

For the rattling, there's an outside chance it could be your exhaust. I had a heat shield on one of the cats start to rust at the seam. At lower RPMs, it hit the right resonance and would rattle like crazy. When I accelerated and hit higher RPMs, the rattle would go away. Might not be your problem, but thought I'd throw it out there.

My '03 has a crazy rattle as I pass through 2500rpm or let off the gas and it comes back down. I've traced it to the pipes (ACE?) running just under the fan, taking a turn near the oil filter. Either they rattle by being too close together at a certain point, or it's a loose mounting bracket and screw along the path of those pipes. I can completely eliminate the rattle by holding the pipes together (watch your hands - FAN!) and will investigate further soon.

I just got done rebuilding my front prop shaft with new u-joints for a knocking/rattling noise between 10-15mph under acceleration.

I know that's different from your scenerio, but what I found in the driveshaft was that there was a washer with a small hole in the center that was freely tumbling around in it. I've only seen it referenced once before and noon gave the guy any input. I took a peice of tubing and just pushed the washer against the rear part of the prop shaft. Haven't had the problem come back.
