Not ready on three and lean on both
#11
Well no wonder the truck has run ok. It has'nt rained in west texas since last year. Oh well I guess thats the misfire from a year ago. However doesnt explain the lean. Based on what I know about mafs at this point it would indicate a slow actin older maf which typically results in lean condition becuase the maf is not reacting quick enough to the air flow changes. All the documentation says this was all replaced with the heads but I dont think so. I think the bosch using the wire for cleaning at 1000 degrees slowly kills these and the film one would last longer with simple cleaning. Anyhow I will hook up the meter to the maf tomorrow and give it a couple of wacks to see if the electronics are still hanging to gether or giving me any intermittent stuff. My guess after input from everyone and the conditions that are present is the maf aint what it use to be and neither am I. Anyhow Im in the back pages of yesterville and will pull the plug on this thread.
Oh by the way removed plugs and wires in about 45 minutes just dropped the harness in the back did not even take off the intake hose. No I don't have small hands so leave me alone. My wife did offer to help bless her heart. Plugs looked good orginal champions I guess. Only wire 4 had the problem the rest were ok but need to be changed.
Thanks for the help.

Put the maf on from my vw golf and so far no codes. Will let it run for a couple of days with the new plugs and wires and the used maf. The p0171 and p0174 are not pending like before so hopefully I will get a new maf after I see what the vw does with the old maf. I guess everyone has lost interest in maf problems funny how they did not understand the heat element and the drift it would cause on the feedback but lean that is the worse direction for burning things up just like the maf.

Well like most the maf was the problem for P0174 and P0171. The wires and plugs helped I will see what the mileage looks like after a couple of weeks. I think what was interesting and I have not heard in this forum is the M/I not coming ready was directly related to the maf problem with the maf which never threw a fault other than the lean condions did allow all the other not readys come ready so my evap, cat, and o2s.
By the way all the driveing in the world did not make these monitoring system come ready unlike you would read in the forums. Once the maf was changed and I executed a C drive cycle everything magically came back.
No codes directly related to these items. Time to make a second discovery of the interralationship between these systems which I have not seen written up in any forum yet. Maybe I am asking the wrong questions. Discoweb.org has some great information on how the mafs slowly lose it but never throw a maf code.
Hope this helps someone.

thanks
yes your post did help someone...me!.
Thanks...lucky for me someone here knows more about LR's than telling me to change to 8mm wires for every issue i seem to get.
I had the same problem with monitors not being ready...new MAF fixed it for me too.
after 1000 wasted miles and an inspection overdue by nearly 2 months, tomorrow i will be able to get inspected. Thanks again.
after 1000 miles i stomped the gas and it threw a rich on both banks code, then i read your post. That night i ordered a new bosch maf for $120 free shipping...installed and all monitors were ready after about 20 miles..NO CEL yet!
Just for fun i called a LR dealer to see the cost of the 3 minute replacement.
$179. The sustained rape of the people continues. I can understand a premium price for a "premium" car, but that is sick
How people can live with themselves working for these rapist companies is beyond me...thieves, liars and cheats!....rant over
