Default Oil Pressure Guage problem

2003 Disco II - 127000 miles

Just installed an oil pressure guage and its operating funny. Any help?

I installed an APC electric oil pressure guage and one of those Glowhift oil filter adapters that attaches the electric sensor/sending unit right at the adapter. I believe I have it hooked up correctly.

With the key in off and no power, it reads 0. When I turn on the ignition it goes to 100psi and then returns to 20psi, even with the engine not running. When I start the engine, it goes to 100psi and then still goes back to 20psi and does not budge with any rpm changes. Any similar behavior you have noticed and the fix or what to check?

Thanks again.

Smokey

That's the same sys I installed several weeks ago, mine's excellent.

Did you get a (2)wire sender? did you wire it correctly? the terminal designations were irritating & instructions poor. (the ground was "w" or something)

Is it grounded well? I ran my ground to the heat shield mount for the starter.

Default will check wiring

Greg,

Yea - I think I saw your post and that is what I selected. I'll go back and check all the wiring. The ground is from the terminal marked "wk" I think and the other green wire goes to the gauge. I'll check the ground again. I ran it directly to one of the ground lugs just behind the battery box. I'll check the ground again, maybe I messed it up when I was running the wires. The red power wire is run directly to the fuse box and connected to a power supply that is hot when the ignition is on and dead when the ignition is off. Right now the orange wire is not hooked up but that says it goes to "running light" I am not even sure what the running light is but I would think that is just to change the level when the lights are on. Am I wrong on that. The instructions were pretty much non-existant. Where did you wire the orange wire? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Mine came from (2) suppliers, apc ga.+ sender, ebay (in box, no wires)
oil filt adapter, glowshift.

I don't honestly remember the colors/terminals. I'm multi-tasking on my truck. the running light I remember in-lining it to the radio light. My stuff's on top of my dash.

did you get the little transformer to fire the led light that lights your guage @ nite?
It was fun stuffing that into the pod.

luck,greg
