Don't jump into a pump or any repair till you have a shop perform an oil pressure test.
When at an idle, do you have any internal engine noise?
You can have any of a couple issues, a bad oil pressure switch, a plugged up pick up tube, or the dreaded oil pump failure.
If it is the pump, then you have 2 options, replace the oil pump which will be a bid, so-what long term fix, till the new pump acts ups and fails again or install a short block, be it new or used.
Get back to us and let us know what you find.

I would suggest you take it to a small shop to have the test and possible work done unless you want to be charged as much as $3500 more and not be given any options.

What? It takes almost nothing to test the oil PSI. I think AutoZone rents the tools to do it yourself.
Just make sure that you do NOT drive with the oil light on.

Make sure that you check your oil PSI with the engine cold at idle, cold at 2,000 rpm.
Hot at idle and hot at 2,000 rpm.
Write down the PSI numbers and post them on here.
I do not know what the PSI is supposed to be, but I am sure that DiscoMike does.

Your oil pressure sending unit is just above the oil filter, passenger side front of the engine.
