Default Outback Steakhouse

Tonight I was eating at Outback Steakhouse when I saw what I thought was a Disco on the menu cover. The picture wasn't clear because it was taken in a sunset scene (see below link). I am not that familiar with the Defenders but after looking at the outline I believe it was a Defender. Needless to say between the menu, the staff t-shirts and the banners everywhere displaying Rovers, I was excited.

I have seen the commercials but I don't think it's a LR.

look at the lines on the hood. They angle in steeply. Not a LR. Anybody got any idea? I saw this the other night too. Needless to say conversation with the wife may not have been the most exciting for her!

Its a toyota or something like that. In the TV ad you can see it a little better, and its not an LR. But I, Like you had to do a double take.

But their marketing phrase for the new menu is "Australia is a place of adventure and wonder. Make a discovery of your own at Outback Steakhouse with our New Menu"

Ummm make a discovery?? Why not use a DISCOVERY in the commercial??

I would have let them use mine

See I also noticed the hood lines. The roof, mirrors and side panels threw me off too but I figured maybe it was a Defender that I wasn't as used to the lines like I am a Disco. I tried searching and apparently Outback has had relationships with LR in the past. It was an old menu from 2000 I foundbut they even had certain meals called "Land Rovers".

If anyone knows chime in because I'd really like to know what other vehicles similar to Rover is out there that maybe I haven't heard of. I like the "off the wall quirky" cars. I have a Disco and we all know they have a look of their own.

Hmm, maybe like a Land Cruiser or something? I wonder what vehicles they have in Australia that aren't sent here to US that would be fit to driving in The Bush.

take a close look at the vehicle Steve is driving.
I think the one in the Outback commerical is a version of that car, and obviously its a toyota. I think someone one here has to know the exact name.

Not to mention, its a great commercial!

Great video find. I think you're right with the Toyota angle. Look at the side panels of this Land Cruiser 70. Now this might not be the exact year but this in the short body looks to be the one with the body panel similarities.

Thats the exact model I though it was, the 70.
I think we've just about solved this!
