While I'm at it I found this....I don't even know what to say about it. I'm stuck between laughing and being confused.

Because the "Top Three" auto makers in America complained that Toyota and Nissan were outselling them using lower price tactics...Overnight they raised the price of all their vehicles ALL of them...in 1986ish $1,000.00. They still outsold everything here so...after more Bxxxhing by the "Top Three" the good old USA (to the dismay of a lot of people) America imposed a $5,000.00 - a piece - tariff on every "two door" suv class vehicle. In 1988 Toyota and Nissan said screwk that and A. stopped selling Land Cruisers in America and B. came out with four door versions. No more good FJ's here since 88 or Canada since 89. Rover didn't care because of its "High Class" niche, until it became owned by well... America. See any 2010 Defenders here or (real) FJ's...nope...did those companies stop making them because of Americas laws...nope...do they still sell like hotcakes worldwide...yep. Out of all things its illegal to buy in America one would never think two of them would be - the finest Froading machines on the planet and the the best way to celebrate making that crossing in one - a Cuban cigar.

To add to that alittle back in the '70's there was a huge tarrif on imported compact pickups, so Toyota and Datsun shipped the cab and chassis to the US and then built the box here and had the dealer install the pick up bed at the dealer.
You could not ship a small pick up to the US but you could ship a small cab and chassis.
That was also why Subaru came up with the Brat, it was a car not a pick up.
I understand the "protecting" the American auto industry, but you have to ask yourself if the US Government had not imposed these high teriff's on imported cars and trucks would GM be filing for bankruptcy on Monday?
Or would they have gotten their crap together back in the '80's and became competative?

No its def. not a rangie, in the TV ad you get a clear shot of the rear of the car and its a toyota. I think me and MarvelVT found the vehicle if you look at me and his posts. The old LC 70-sw series is the one featured in the ad im almost positive.
Spike, the ones you are looking at are too new to be in the ad, because its def. an older version (if you see the TV ad you'll agree) but I think you are posting the newer model of the one used in the commercial.
Old Land Crusier 70-sw it is.
