We did flush radiator after putting in water pump..But not throttle body, which was clogged up with the orange stuff, so I am going to go ahead and replace the thermostat and flush radiator again..Thanks for all the tips and the pics and the guides! These are all a GOD send!

Default ahh--one more thing

Ok thermostat ordered. Any tips or suggestions on the radiator flush? Anything to put in it to unclog any possible mixture or just do a standard flush?

Here is what I would do to flush the radiator, drain, fill with water, idle for 10 min, let cool for 10 min, drain, repeat until clean water comes out.
Then use a off the shelf radiator flush product of your choice, follow directions on bottle.
Then flush again with plain water.
Refill with any all aluminum safe coolant, if you buy it in the 50/50 pre-mix you cannot screw it up.

Thanks! Will do spike! And thanks again for all of everyone's help! Soon as the thermostat comes in--Will do the flush, install and let everyone know how it goes!

Remember to not drive it until you can fix it, the engine is ALL aluminum and it will self destruct.

No worries there! It has been parked since last slight overheat--We're sharing my chevy til part is in and we follow these steps!

Also one last bit of advise, buy youself an Ultra-gauge if you haven't already. It will help save you a crap ton of money, it saved my *** because I wouldn't have known if my thermostat was on it's way out. My truck was sitting at 220F at a traffic light (which by the way didn't put my temp gauge to the red line) and I was able to replace the thermostat quickly. With out it I would have only known something was wrong when the thermostat finally did decide to give up the ghost and who knows where I could have been stranded.
