Default P38 block ?

How do I tell if a 4.6 block is a P38?
What numbers identify it?
I got a used one today that has several issues, and I'm sending it back.
I'de also really like to know if it came out of an 03/04 D2(giving it a high probabilty of being a pos).
Or if it's a true 99-02 RR P38?
Thanks

Thank you sir, very much.
The block checks out, it is from a 98-02 RR.
Unfortunately it's no good, lol.
Oh well, now I wait for return hassle and see what the next one looks like.

It was not decked, and has light under a straight edge between the 2 center cylinders on both sides.
All 8 cylinders were honed...and all 8 are full of vertical lines, many of which I can hang a finger nail on.
There are some nice dings and gouges on one inner cylinder bank, and across the rear intake sealing surface.
I called and the guy I spoke to seemed good to deal with. He ask if it was ok for him to check out how it got shipped to me that way, and that he'll call me in the morning.
Frustrating, but hopefully this block will get picked up thursday.
Assuming they send another, it still puts me a couple weeks behind.

Ouch that is no good.

Mistakes happen it’s how they handle it that makes or breaks it to me

Yes sir, I agree.
It seems to be going in the right direction so far.

They tried to make me pay to ship it back.
It took a good arguement to get through to them that they sent a block advertised as decked that clearly is not.
And that they honed junk sleeves.
They claim they will email me a return label.
Nothing so far. Regardless, I'll never do business with them again, nor ever recommend them.
I took lots of pictures and bought through paypal, so even with a hassle, I'll get my money back.
Now, back to having everything for a rebuild...except a block. yay.
