Default PAS bracket removal

I'm doing my head gaskets and I'm being hung up by the pas bracket. It looks like the power steering pump should come off separate from the bracket and I should be able to lay the pump off to the side. I can't seem to get it to separate from the bracket. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the help.

Yes of course the pump comes out. It has to. Are you following the Rave CD instructions?

I have the book, not the CD. Does the cd work you through step by step? The book seems to jump around a bit.

They are the same thing and it jumps around but it is easy to jump around in the PDF because you can just click back and forth. I actually printed out the separate sections and made an outline of what I needed to do and checked things off as I got past them.

The shop manual has a section on removing the PAS pump. Treat the pump very gently or you will cause it to leak and end up replacing it. Ask me how I know.

I too have done this only a few months ago and had the same problem.....as I recall it turns out that you only need to remove the bracket, and the pump will come with it,.....nobody said it was easy.....at least one of the bracket bolts are "hidden" , take your time and it will come off and you can lay it to one side. It's an even harder job to get the pump out of the bracket with it all mounted on the engine. the manual is a great tool and guide but like most manuals...it was written by people who spend their entire day after day working on this stuff...and they tend to oversimplify things a little

Thanks for the help guys, I figured it out. For some reason I thought the pump came out separate from the bracket. I guess thats why I fly airplanes and strayed from the family biz of fixing cars. There no help though, I'm the only Rover owner and live a couple thousand miles from everyone else.
