Default Pinion Flange Problem to a 4-Bolt?

Rave says tool # LRT-51-008 is needed to remove the centralising peg from the flange. I received my TW drive shaft and the 4 bolt flange kit. I found this tool at landrover.spx.com for $218.61, is there any way around this? Can I just get a ds that bolts right up to the original 3 bolt pinion flange? For the guys out there that have done this, what are your tips? Anything else to worry about in there, crush sleeve, seal ect...? Do I have to drain the oil? Thanks
