Possible reason to overheating and pressure

2 Attachment(s)
Hey everyone,

We have had some overheating and excessive pressure in the top rad hose and may know why now. A friend of mine and fellow Rover owner called and said check that the hoses are on correctly coming off the top of the t-stat and not backwards. I checked the Rave manual and put the hoses on then today double checked them with an image I had on my phone and was shocked.
I noticed they were going a different way and want to know which is the correct way?
Does this matter?
This is the Rave image:

This is Rover North's image:

It looks like the diagram is the same in both drawings. water pump to the left connection, upper hose to the right connection and lower hose to the bottom.

Never mind, I see the orientation of the Thermostat is reversed. I believe the top diagram is correct. Side pipe goes to the water pump.

The images we use for that are from Microcat, I can't comment without looking personally.

The Microcat image is the same as the Rover North image which is the opposite of my setup.

Hose FROM T goes to top center connection on stat, that opening will have a disk with small holes visible inside. Side arm opening goes to water pump. Bottom goes to radiator.

Thats how I am now but, I have 2 diagram with the hose from the T going to the side arm, center to water pump and of course the bottom to the rad. If mine is already correct then I believe I have a faulty T-stat. I also bled the system and still had quite a bit of air in the system.

Take it out and throw it in heated water to see if it opens.

I will be doing that tomorrow but I will also be ordering the 180 degree t-stat from Land Rover and replacing the suspect one that is in the truck now. A buddy of mine has a fairly new spare rad that I will be trying as well to see if that my be a problem area.

I just found a good image of the t-stat and I do have it the right way so now just process of elimination.
