Yep if it was a 10-15 cent difference I'd never run anything less than 93, but for some reason my area is all over the place for 50-75 more per gallon. When I was in Lubbock, Austin, Dallas, and even San Antonio the difference was at most 15 cents. That is one thing I absolutely NEVER do = get gas from a no name gas station. Sams Club, Kroger, and Wal-Mart are pushing it, but I only use those in emergency situations. It's normally Valero, Exxon, Chevron, Mobil1, or Shell.

87 is 1.45-1.50 in my area right now with 93 being right up there at 2.29 usually or higher. When I drove to Spring on Friday I found 87 for 1.22, and Super for 1.65, but those aren't stations I'm normally cruising around daily. Heck in my neck of the woods fuel is basically pumped out of the ground lol.

Someone told me a while back the reason for the difference in say 89/91/93 was that gas stations had to pay more for deliveries of multiple octane rated fuels vs say just 87 for unleaded and diesel. Also since 89/91/93 doesn't sell as fast they don't discount it as much. No clue how much of that is true or not. I do know for a fact during Hurricane Harvey/Hurricane Imelda that 89/93 octane fuel was the last to go, and some stations ran out of 87 so fast they sold the 89/93 at 87 octane prices, so technically I've got 93 octane for cheap during 2 natural disasters.

 

No matter the octane levels, I'm just so stoked that gas is as cheap as it is here in CA. This is the lowest it's been in ages. I remember last summer driving around the RRS or the D2, both equal gas hogs, at $5.25+. I feel like I'm driving for free lately.

 

Gas is creeping back up here I paid $1.85 a gallon for premium today, it was $1.89 a gallon when I drove back by an hour later.

Doesn't hurt at all filling up the excursion at $1.43 a gallon on regular

 

Must be nice we are averaging about $3.80 a gal for 87 up here right now closer to 5.00 for premium and a good chunk is taxes

 

yup about $4.60 here in Ontario for premium 91

 

Just filled up the wifes car with Premium (93 here in SC) for 1.99 per gallon

 

Sadly Seattle, With a refinery 50 miles north and tons of crude from Alaska, has gas prices averaging around $1,00 per gallon more than the rest of the US. Highest in the nation except CA and HI. Mostly due to taxes.

Amazing though that gas is actually cheaper than beer!!

Oh boy! Maybe this thread needs to be re-visited!! I've been away from Land Rovers for awhile but have had 3 Discoveries (Series 1), 1 Range Rover Country (1995) and ran regular gas often with no issues! I just bought a LR3 (2007) and it doesn't seem to like regular gas. No pinging or apparent power loss but getting P071 codes when I started using regular gas. I live about an hour and a half from the nearest shop that has any experience with Land Rovers. And before I come in they suggested I to go back to premium gas and see if that takes care of it. So far no luck.

Today here in NC regular gas is about $2.90 or so per gallon but premium (93 octane) runs from $3.50 per gallon up to $4.10!!!!
