Default Preparing for summer

Any tips on getting my truck ready for the summer heat? I live in AZ and it gets real hot as we all know. I currently run the Shell 5/40 Rotella and Prestone 50/50.

Besides new fluids what else should i look for or inspect for the summer heat.

Maybe 20w50 oil instead, check vacuum lines, thermostat, coolant hoses, fan clutch.

keep that drive shaft greased and some others might chime in and tell you to up the coolant to water percentage.

50/50 is perfect, add some water wetter to it.

I would give a real thorough inspection (top and bottom) to all coolant hoses. I just got my Disco, and had to replace one hose and found a crack in another one (that would not have been easy to see without really looking for it).
Also, being a detailing freak at times, would be a good time to condition the seats (leather or fake leather) as well as the dashboard.
Leatherique is a favorite, and will keep the essential oils in the leather or put them back in! For vinyl or the dash I would recommend 1Z einszett.
Also, good time to protect the outside! Get ready for those UV rays all over! Start with the clay bar and detailing mist (Meguires, 3M or Adams is fine), then polish (I use Menzera, both micro polish and power finish), then two coats of a good wax (I like P21S).
For the trim and seals, try Black Wow. Expensive, but a little goes a long way. This will make your black trim look brand new if done right, and last for months too. Those seals and trim dry out quickly, so keeping them top notch is important!

Thanks for the tips. Also, I plan on doing some road tripping with some minor off road action consisting mostly of trails leading to some mountain biking and camping. What if any parts should i have on hand given that some of the road trips will take me from Nor-Cal to Texas.

Thanks again

thanks man, just ordered CPS and am keeping a spare thermostat and hoses. I just received the BMW bleed screw for the T connection so will have a spare T and screw. Have a pretty stout set of tools and fluids in the locker on back, so i should be good to go.

Default One more thing

Bought RP 85/140 for the DIffs and T-case. What should i be running for summer in the oil department given that temps around here are 100+ through the end of sept -oct. Also, For the tranny will any ATF fluid work or is it worth the protection to go RP there as well.

Thanks again
