Ok, I'll tell you that my stock Rover could do that.
I had water break at the base of the windshield for a brief butt pucker moment.
Every spring I drive though water upto the hood, you know the little raised part of the hood? The part where the hood black out goes?
That was put there to break water like the bow of a boat.

I bet the manifolds and the cats are not liking immediate cool down.
Good way to crack iron manifolds.
That guy actually loses control and the rover is floating.
If the middle of the river was deep enough and he was taking on water, eventually he would have sunk.
Or if the engine had stalled, it may have sunk eventually.
Sure makes an exciting video.
Had an MG Midget.
Sort of like this MG Marketing video

Here are the things he did wrong, his tires, they are to big and they are providing flotation.
Notice that he floats down river? This is VERY dangerous as he could easily have been swept downriver and flipped over if he had hit a rock and drowned.
The next thing is he went down stream to cross, always go UP stream when crossing moving water, you never cross moving water unless you absolutely have to and when you do you put the leading edge of your truck into the waters flow, the corner of your truck then becomes a "bow" and breaks the water and reduces the amount of force that is pushing against you.
If you have a gasoline engine and or no snorkel you need to block the radiator with a tarp, strap it to the grill, this prevents water from coming into the engine bay and the engine air filter box.
Use lo range on the t-case, transmission in 2nd gear, enter the water from a standstill and slowly accelerate until you create a small bow wake, hold that speed, do not slow down, do not stop.
Always walk it before crossing to check for hidden deep holes or sunken logs or large hidden rocks that you can get hung up on.
Do not wear your seatbelt, doors unlocked, a/c off.
Once you enter the water do NOT stop moving, use as much throttle as needed to keep moving, use the littlest amount possible but the largest amount needed.
