100% agree. I don't have a ton of scratch to throw around at the moment though. So for right now, I'd like to fix the actual issue.

 

I bought my 2001 Disco 2 years ago and it still had the original front propshaft installed.
After reading the horror stories from other owners how it explodes apart, the front propshaft ended up being the first major part I replaced ASAP.

 

Appreciate all the responses! I'm definitwly replacing the front shaft, I'm just looking for various metgods of diagnosis (pref without removal) to ensure that's the specific cause of the chirp and vibration I'm getting. I can only afford to fix one thing at the moment, so I need to do what I can to get the right fix done.

 

You have a 03 so your method of checking the shaft out is pulling it and looking it over. Your truck will not be drivable with the shaft pulled due to the lack of center diff lock.

So pull it and inspect or pull it replace or wait and see if you get a transmission inspection window in the casing.

I ran a Lucky8 shaft in my D2 no issues current owner is still running it probably 40k miles on it

I just went ahead and ordered the Lucky8 Shaft. I figure, if it's the rear shaft, it would cause less damage if it failed, and if it's the TCase, well.. I can't afford that right now anyway haha
