Let me be the first to say contrats. Is it a series I or series II?
Here are somethings to search for on the forum-gas, motor oil, u-joints, door locks and rear/cargo door.
Also search for the RAVE CD, it has a owners manual and shop manual all on one disc. Very helpfull.

Oh Yeah she has a sweet rovertyme front bumper. The radio does not work, does not power on, maybe a fuse?
I bought it from a rinky-dink dealer who did not know a thing about it other than he bought it from an "older guy"
who was the original owner, carfax and old registrations in the glove box seem to confirm that.
He wanted 6200 for it. I showed him 4500 cash and he jumped on it, i think i got a decent deal. I still can not find a leak on it.

Sounds like a good deal to me. No leaks? Are you sure you bought a Land Rover?

Like Spikes signature says:

If it ain't leakin' it must be empty!
Make sure your engine isn't operating on Oil Fumes. hahahahaha...And congrats. My wife has been in love with Discoveries for awhile and she finally bought one about a month ago. I've been trying to get it up to the 60,000 mile maintenance level...which basically involves changing all of the fluids:

-Motor Oil
-Transmission
-Front and Rear Differentials
-Transfer Case

-Rebuild the front driveshaft if it is missing the zerk fittings
-Inspect and replace brake components as needed
-Perform a tune up by replacing wires and spark plugs

I think that's about it.

I know they made both the DI and DII in '99 but this is the first '99 DI I've heard about...did they not make very many?

99' DI's were only produced about half the time because they came out with the DII' near the end of 98'. As you know, most companies start to produce the next years model quite early, EX: the 2008 Tahoe came out about 3/4 though 2007.. its the same deal with the disco except they stopped making the DI right then and there, because the DII was introduced. Again, in some cases they makehalf new and half old, but for the disco it was all DII's from then on out.
