Purchasing a used Discovery SE 2002-2003
Hello people, new to the forum.
Just returned my lease car and now I am in the market to pick up a used 2002-2003 Discover SE from someone.
I thought I would ask the forum for some advice when picking a LR Discovery.
Any issues or conserns I should have when purchasing a used LRD?
Any info will be helpful.
It has a clean title and one owner, has about 47k miles.
What should I look for as far as maintenance goes for one of these?
Thanks in advance and looking forward to the replies.

Are you planning on alot of 4wheeling and possible modifications for better traction such as lockers, if so neither would be a good choice because of the transfer case, it is not lockable. If you are planning on playing with it get an 04.
The 2003 has the bigger 4.6 engine, but had some oil pump issues, if you buy it get a extended warranty to protect yourself.

Welcome to the forum!,
First thing you should do is educate yourself on this vehicle, scour through this forum and click on anything that raises any concerns. That being said, these are nice trucks but can be a bit of a handfull if you purchase one that has not been serviced properly.Check the sellers service records and make sure he or she took care of it from day one.If they cannot provide service records(lost or misplaced),go to the local dealer with the VIN number and they should be able to give you the service history of that vehicle.Service history is key to purchasing a preowned Land Rover because they are not very forgiving if they have been neglected.Because of the market that these trucks targeted, brand new Discoverys usually found themselves in the hands of folks who wanted a status symbol and got drivin until either something went wrong or the lease was up.Ask to have the truck inspected at the dealer,it will run about $100,they can give you a heads up if there are any surprises lurking, which can save you thousands later.
