Default Radiator Leak

It looks like the actual radiator is fine, it's the stupid plastic sides of it that are messed up. There is a Philips #3 screw on the driver's side of the radiator (right on top). It seems that I have coolant coming out of it. Attached is the picture of the screw covered in blue RTV in an attempt to seal it. I also put some RTV on the threads of the screw. I already have a new radiator on the way from Lucky 8 that should (hopefully) get to me really soon. My question is: is my D2 ok to drive?
Thanks.

If that ever happens, I'd rather be in my '16 4Runner.

But the disco rides better and I don't want to put too many miles on my 4Runner so that's why I'm even asking.

Unless someone has an ingenious temporary fix, I guess I will have to retire my D2 until next week or so.

My 99 D2 leaked from one of those upper fan shroud screws. It honestly only leaked once parked. With the engine running it never really did much but maybe a drop. When I replaced the radiator I cut 5mm off of those silly screws to prevent it from cracking in the same place again.

I drove it around with zero issues BTW.

Mine has the same leak if I screw the screws in too far. So I put a washer on each screw.

I have personally never touched those screws before. On the new radiator, I will definitely find some shorter screws or put some washers on the existing ones.

Best4x4, it's good to hear that it shouldn't leak much on the road. I'm gonna drive it a bit today and see how much coolant I lose. So far, I haven't lost too much but it seems to have gotten worse the past week or so.

I have driven the D2 at least 30 miles the past few days and I have lost no coolant. In fact, I don't see any signs of a leak from that screw. I still want to replace the radiator at some point, but it seems ok to drive. I'm gonna tow 2 trail bikes tomorrow (150 mile round trip) with my D2 and see how it goes. I think it should be fine, but I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

You'll be fine. I drove 4.5Hr home in that 99 D2 not even knowing that I had a leak from one of those silly screws.

No issues with the radiator while towing my dirt bikes.

But when I got home, my D2 spilled coolant all over the driveway. It ended up being that stupid 1/4" coolant line that goes from the rad to the reservoir....
So I replaced that with fuel line.

The radiator still leaks a little bit as the past few days I still have drops on the driveway but the coolant loss is very minimal. So I think I'm good until the new radiator comes in 2 days.

Question about the radiator replacement: do I have to remove the transmission cooler when I remove the radiator (that 's what RAVE says)? Seems like a lot of effort for a radiator replacement. I have an 04 so no oil cooler just the trans cooler.
