Radio in 02 Discovery Need help ASAP
I posted a few weeks ago. I bought an 02 Discovery in December and my husband disconnected the battery. We didn't have the code for the radio and it hasn't worked. We called the dealer and they said the code would be the last 5 digits of the radio's serial number.
My husband just took the radio out of the Disco a few minutes ago, but the serial number includes 0's, and he doesn't see a way to put those in as part of the code. I think this radio may have been added later. It's a 6-disc changer. I thought it was a Harmon Kardon, but my husband says the radio says Becker Automotive Systems on it. The model number is a BE 4775.
I'm gonna put *'s in for a couple of the numbers but the serial number on this radio is 25003*3*. Does anyone have any idea what the code would be? The dealer did not have it on file, and said they thought it may have been replaced.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I had the same thing happen, but if it is a "Land Rover brand" radio, the dealership will have the code.
What you need to do is, if you can, take the radio out so you can see all the barcodes and info on the back and sides of the radio, call Land Rover and send them proof of ownership through fax.
that's exactly what I did and I got the code the same day.
You might also want to go to the dealership and do the exact same thing. Show them the codes, proof of ownership and let it be up to them to get it. Because it is from Land Rover, they will get it.
If the sales rep at the dealership doesn't help, talk to the Service Manager; but I got the code faster calling LR then I did at the dealership.
:]

That is for D1's, they lock after 3 failed attempts. On D2's, the time between entering the wrong code doubles for each failure.
The engine doesn't have to be off on D1's. I had mine lock and I couldn't remember the right code and entered the wrong one 3 times. It locked and I figured out that you had to wait 1 hour. I drove to Dallas and an hour down the turnpike, I got the radio back after trying the right code..
