Anthony,

The reason for the recall is that the plastic tank can develop cracks. This could lead to fuel being leaked and A possible fire. It is only A slight chance. However, you should schedule A appointment with your local dealer at your next available opportunity.

Mike,

The recall only affects certain Range Rover Classics and Disco I.

Anyone else run into a dealer interpretation of the recall?

I called on mine and was told I had to have active signs of leakage for it to be covered. I was able to verify that mine was one subject to recall.

I talked to the nhtsa, and was told that signs of leakage were not necessary. I currently have a call out to land rover corporate. I will let the group know what I find.

anonimaus,

Before the official start of the recall there was A bulletin stating what you were told. Only vehicles with fuel leaks would be repaired. This was due to limited parts availability. Currently, all affected vehicles will have the fuel tank replaced.

Bait,

Figured that it was probably a supply issue and the local dealer hadn't yet gotten the new new information from corporate. Just verified the same with Landrover Corporate--They are still sending out notices to all affected owners, and if your VIN matches the suspected problem range, the tank is being replaced.

I just posted a thread regarding this... didnt see this one. the number to find out if your vehicle is in the renage of production is
800 637 6837 then hit number 9 to avoid listening to all the options.... have your vin number handy.
