recommended tire air pressure

36 front, 46 rear. I "scientifically" came up with this... I remembered Disco Mike saying something about higher pressures but was too lazy to look up what he said, so 36 sounded higher than the stock 32. Then, I checked the manual and it said to run 46 rear with a loaded vehicle. We were on a 3-week road trip - 2 adults, 2 kids, camping gear, etc. etc. Needless to say, it was loaded. I was shocked to find that I was getting 17-18+ MPG most of the trip driving 65 MPH or less.
Of course, that dropped down to 13-15MPG driving back through Texas... I'd filled the back of the truck to the top (no visibility) with junk from my parent's house, and was driving a solid 80MPH the whole time.
All things considered, I was really pleased. My next-door-neighbor was recently complaining that their 2010 Acura MDX only got around 15-16 MPG so maybe we aren't all so bad off after all.
Home now and empty, I'm now running 36 front, 40 rear. Haven't driven enough to know if there's any difference.
Note: my Disco is stock, stock height, and I have non-aggressive Bridgestone Alenza tires (I'll be upgrading to Coopers next round...). I've done the whole MPG thing... 8mm Magnacors, new O2s, Bosch Platinum +4s, premium gas always, etc. etc.
Hope that helps - let me know if you have any more questions or want to call me a MPG liar
