Remote control door locking
I have a Discovery 2 which when I unlock it using the remote control does not unlock the passenger door; this remains locked on the double click of the remote and I have to open it manually from inside. As I am not technical does anyone have any ideas as to what this might be please?
it opens when I pull the inside door handle but not when I try and raise the locking button; when I unlock manually with the key on the driver's door it sometimes raises but locks on the remote fob.
Sounds like a door actuator to me. At this point, I'm not sure if you can only change the little spring that usually fails rather than changing the whole unit. I'm sure Mike can confirm this.
So, Discorh. Have you found the problem yet. Did not mention it on my previous reply, but I'm experiencing the same thing. My rear left door will only open if I pull the inside handle. It will not budge while using the remote, the dash switch or by pulling the ***. I dohowever hear the device trying to open it.
At this point, the rear right door seems to becoming weeker as it takes 3 to 4 times pushing the button on the remote for the door to unlock while it locks on the first push of the button. Same for the back door. Both front doors operate perfectly.
So, I should be dealing with it soon. I'd very much like to know if the little springs are the week link, which would cost next to nothing, or if I have to change the actuators.
Steph.

Here is what I did to get it fixed...
FIRST BUY LOCK ACTUATOR FOR $25.00
!!!!!!!yes $25.00
1. removed door panel with flat face crowbar, no clips broken!!!!
2. cut plastic shield on inside of panel where the lock actuator is located and right below it as well...
3. unscrew 3 T25 tork screws holding actuator and 1 T40 screw holding dorr/window frame
4. unhooked line to inside door handle and wire harness for auto locks
5. unhooked steel rod that is coneected to outside door handle by lifting the black plastic that is holding the rod then popping it out with a screw driver...make sure you have good lighting!!!!
6. unscrewed the bottom 10mm screw of the door/window frame, no other screws needed, you are supposed to completely remove the frame from both sides and the window, I did not do this...
This is what I did....after unscrewing the frame at the bottom I moved the actuator down a little from where it was origianlly placed, pulled up the window/door frame up as much as I could without damaging anything, about 2 inches up,this is from the inside of the door I pulled the door frame to give more space where the door frame and actuator meet, took about 15 min of jaming, pulling, shifting the actuator and door/window frame from the inside an eventually squeezed the lock out.....pain in my ***, but easier then taking apart the whole door.....
7. Then suprisingly easy to put the new acutuaor in...squeezed in pretty easy...after that...lined up the acutaor put the t25 screws to hold in place, pushed back the door/window frame and screwed that back in from inside the door, then tightened all screws, did a test and put back the panel....all in all about 30 min, to do it...and the god damn dealer wants $400, so it takes them over 2 hrs...supposedly....hope this helps...probable a lot of confusing info...[/align]

I've checked it out a couple of months ago, I just did not get to taking off the actuator. But thanks for the info, I'm sure it could help if someone ever does a search on the subject.
But my questioning is regarding the fact that apparently most of the time,a little spring is all that needs to be changed in order to fix an actuator, rather than spending for a whole unit.
But where the heck did you get an actuator for $25.00

Newbie here,
I too am in need of a pair of those $25 actuators. Any link on to where to get them? Also, the back cargo door uses the same actuator as regular passenger doors, right?
Thanks in advance for the help
