Might try these out, though $23 shipped for a filter is a bit hard to swallow.
Yes the shipping kills it unless you are buying a case then you end up paying what you would for say a M1 filter, Also that place is for real I've ordered from them. You should be able find them locally though. Find a shop that services commercial vehicles and they will sell you one.

Rotella 15w-40.
NAPA Gold, WIX or Purolator.
Change the oil every 5,000 miles.
Grease your u-joints at every oil change too.

Spike plan slightly modified...Rotella T-6 5w40 synthetic...Mobile 1 301 filter...change every 5,000 miles...grease u-joints at the same time.

donaldson P169071 filter is interesting though...thanks ShortTom...I will look locally at the Peterbilt dealer.

Going to switch to the Shell T-6 rotella 5W-40 from Castro Syntec 5w-40...what a waste that was, lasted about 3,000 miles. I also use the mobile 1 filter.

How do you know that the Castrol Syntec lasted only 3,000 miles, was it the smell, look or feel. I am just curious to know.

It was the feel and color...didn't smell all that bad (worse than it should have after only 3,000) but it was dark and felt thin (hot and cold), plus the engine is louder, i hear all the ticks and slaps...sounds like it isn't protecting anything. Everyone seems high on the Rotella so hoping it lasts the 5,000 that everyone talks about.

Thank you for the quick reply. I have been using Mobil 1 10w-30 and the engine has been really quiet but I have heard good things about Rotella and that it is the best for our engines so I am also going to try that next.

you cannot tell without a used oil analysis (google blackstone lab). You need to see things like TBN, TAN, viscosity wear metals etc. Color, feel, smell, look mean nothing. Some oils turn black some don't as much depends on the chemistry.

If you want to stay with 10w30 rotella T5 is the way to go.

Same experience here. My truck sounded like the porsche with that tin can with rocks sound. Only 2k on the current oil so i am thinking to make the jump to the shell now and save myself the anxiety of the noises
