So how long does the rotoflex last? Mine looks good, no cracks, no vibration..... but with 188kmi on it, I'm wondering if I should replace it as preventitive maintenance or just keep a spare with me? I know from reading the forums to keep a spare CPS in the glovebox. Always trying to stay one step ahead....

wow! 188k on it.. are you certain it was not replaced before you owned?? I would replace thats is a long time on a piece of rubber. then keep the old one as a spare.

 

I just replaced mine (original) yesterday after 120K miles. You can definately see the difference relative to the rigidity or stiffness of the old rotoflex vs. the new one. Only driven about 20 miles since, but I can notice the difference in the ride.

 

Don't know if/when it was replaced. But I'm planning on making a 1,000 mile trip soon so thinking I may replace it now instead of on the side of the road. AB shows two of them: 1 for $79.95 and the other for $119.95. The expensive one has a bearing and new bolts. Didn't know I had to replace them..... ?

$62.00 with free shipping. This is just the rotoflex...no bearing and bolts. Probaby $25 cheaper than AB after the shipping charge.

 

it is not a bearing it is a bushing. yes you can replace, and at this point with the mileage you have you might want to think about doing that, or not and just do the hard rubber piece for the 80 bucks.

you will want to do the bolts... it only makes sense. a savings of a few dollars on the bolts is not worth the cost of a sheared bolt on the highway. fatigue hits all parts. just order them.

 

Stay away from parts on E-Bay, for the most part they are cheap quality.
If you want a good roto-flex, then go to British Parts of Utah and buy theirs.

 

Mike, I would tend to agree with you in most cases. This particular rotoflex was made by AllMakes 4x4, an English company that has supplied Land Rover parts for 30 years. They are the parent company of Terra Firma. I figured it was okay. They are ISO 9001 certified and have won a royal quality award. They list the manufacturer of the parts they sell on their site so you have some idea before you buy. It came sealed in the original packaging.
