Default Rough idle after under bonnet wash

Just got done changing all my coolant hoses and wanted to just wash everything off under there. Washed under there several times just fine. Today after I washed under the hood, it idled a little rough for a couple seconds. Once I put some pressure on the gas it runs fine. Then back to idle after a little bit of driving, it idles fine.

Is there water getting in the fuel line somehow? Any advice?

No water is not getting in the fuel line, it is getting a sensor or plug lead or something else wet.

Something to worry about? Or just not wash under the hood very often?

I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens every time it rains.

I put engine cleaner GUNK on my whole engine.
Sprayed it off with a high pressure car wash.

I did not have any issues.

Once you heat up the engine - all these misfire problems should go away for you as you have evaporated the water off the engine.

Everything on this engine is sealed.
The spark plug are out in the open and not recessed into a hole where water could go.

I bet you have an edgy spark plug wire.
Check the routing of the wires.
They should all be in the clips on the sides of the valve covers.
check that the spark plug wires are all tight on the plugs and on the coils.

If this is really a worry for you, then replace the wires with new.

you engine is going to get wet some day, you should buy a small container of dielectric grease and remake all the connection under the hood

What color are your plug wires? If they are grey, they are factory wires and warn out indicating some new 8 mm silicone wires are in order.
D2's unlike D1's love all the water you can throw at them. I wash my engine compartment after every trail or once a month and have been for 10 year without a miss.

Thanks guys. Mike I have blue wires. They were replaced when the head gaskets were done. I will check the coonections and I will throw some di electric grease in there.

Also most of the flex tube surrounding my wires is all gone... Plan on replacing with new flex tube in the next week or so...

Thanks again for all your help

It is true suggested that no degreaser on the top of the engine because it can get into the electrical connection causing you grief.
It can be used in very small areas away from electrical connections on heavy oil build ups only, cold high pressure water will clean most without any soap.
