Default Running hot?

we bought this truck about 3 months ago and have been doing some work on her since then. as to the cooling system, have switched to the genuine LR 180 t/stat and as of this past weekend have changed all of the cooling system hoses and have burped the Disco Lady about a million times. so, now we have a truck running in the 180's and 190's around town w/o the a/c on- pretty good. however, turn the a/c on and temp's like to get up to 210-212 in stop-and-go, but will go to the low 200's when moving. seems a bit high, thoughts?...

Sounds OK to be. A/C doesn't make a change in mine but in traffic, in heat with AC 210 is OK if you are lower otherwise. Is your electric fan coming on with the AC?

Are your electric fans running? They should come on with the AC as described below (from RAVE): Engine cooling fan control
While the A/C system is on, operation of the electric engine cooling fan, to assist refrigerant condenser operation, is determined by a combination of vehicle speed and external air temperature. When cooling fan operation is required, the ATC ECU outputs a cooling fan request to the ECM, which then energises the cooling fan relay. The cooling fan
request is output if vehicle speed is 80 km/h or less while the external air temperature is 28 °C (82 °F) or more. The
request is cancelled, and the cooling fan switched off, if either the vehicle speed increases to 100 km/h, or the external
air temperature decreases to 25 °C (77 °F).

OOPS! forgot to mention- aux fan works when a/c is on, and blows towards the radiator. also, have done IR temp gun (with "L-A-S-E-R") on the radiator, and the variations are like 5 or 6 degrees over the face of the radiator, top/bottom/sides/middle.

If sitting in hot stop temps, do you get a significant temp drop if you bring rpms to 2kish for a few seconds?
could be slow flow?

Doesn't sound too bad. Last year when I had the OEM t-stat (190? 195?) My temps running 70mph with the A/C on were at 198 and it was 85 degrees outside. I just recently put in the 180 t-stat but it hasn't got warm enough yet for me to run the A/C.

212 and with ac if ambient is above 50 or some temp like that. but not with ac if it is too cold outside

thanks guys. dusty- no temp drop with increased rev's. ambient temp around 80, south florida (aka-flatistan). taking her on a road trip at the end of next month and really would like to get any cooling issues looked after. she will do a great job of 180's-190's in traffic w/o the a/c, but get that a/c going and it's 210-212, just seems odd that there'd be that much temp difference with the a/c on.
