Default Saab Story

I know this is the DII forum, but I know I've seen Saabs mentioned here from time to time. I found a post saying that saabnet.com is now pretty dead, so do any of you who own a Saab recommend a Saab forum that's good?

My brother once owned a 1992 Saab 900S convertible, and the guy who owns it now wants to sell it. It still has less than 100,000 miles. I'd like to poke around in a good forum to learn about common problems, etc. Or if any of you own a 1st-gen. 900 and can give me some pointers please let me know. Thanks.

My father-in-law had a 92, and a 95 turbo convertible.
Both were great when they were running...then dead from electrical gremlins alot of the time.
The local euro trash mechanic(who is Very good) said instrument clusters and electrical issues are their main faults.
Mechanically they are good.

Would you own a '92 convertible again as a weekend/fun car? Sixpack said above that the ones his father-in-law owned were dead from electrical gremlins a lot of the time. Was that your experience?

92 turbo manual all day long and twice on sunday. Still would love a 9000 Aero for a daily sleeper

Saabs are great. I have found their electrical issues are not that bad. I found a lot of shops just had issues with working on them as they were more complex than most other cars of the day.

Drivetrains were really stout, peppy, they handled great and were fun to drive.

Good to hear. This one is a 900S manual trans, but not a turbo. Red.

No turbo is less fun for spirited driving, still a solid motor though.

The turbo wasn't a "fast" car by any means, but had alot more get up and go than the non turbo, and was alot of fun on twisty country roads.
The non turbo was kinda, meh, commuter.
Both were 5spd
