Default Sensor on top of air filter

On the MAF I notice there is a sensor that leads on top of the air flow box (where the air filter goes) Are one of the leads suspost to be hot? ( i have this circuit tester and its reading no electricity going through it)

What year are you talking about, was the engine at operating temp when you tested it and do you have a check engine light on?

So, you can only test that sensor if the engine is at operating temp. Go get your codes read and get back to us with them.

I tested both wires when I got home from work yesterday, it showed no electricity flowing to either one on that sensor, could that be causing my P1178 code going off?

Im thinking if that is what is causing the P1178 to come up and with no juice going to either line, i will have to take off the protective covering on it and see if i can find a short anywhere.... gah now im wishing it was the MAF or O2 sensor, be easier to change it lol
