There are posts all over 3 or 4 Rover forums about MAF failures. I really wanted to run one in my 99 and di thru two Mafs before I quit buy replacements. The Newer Bosch MAF's are just too sensitive and will fail from the oil contamination and dust.

Jeff,
It is pretty early on in mileage to worry about replacing plugs and wires, those are not done usually till the 60K service unless of course you are having a problem in the meen time.
At you milesage you should be doing a standard 30K service which is more for all the fluid replacements and inspections.

Thanks for the advice regarding the service required @ or around the 30k mark. I have already replaced pretty much all of the fluids - engine oil&filter, front diff, rear diff, transfer case, checked and topped up trans, changed and flushed brake fluid, added a bottle of Lucas power steering conditioner. Only fluid not changed was Coolant.

Make sure you use Dexcool coolant when you do change it out.

Al you have to do is disconnect one of the battery terminals for 15 seconds to clear the light. Little things trip the code like sudden acceleration which is not good for any car. Bumps along the road do it too. If it does not come back on after clearing it's good news but something is causing it. O2 sensors, fuel mixture type also. The new gas is not the same as the gas when the truck was built either.

That post you replied to is close to six years old, pretty stale. And while you are correct that codes ccan be cleared, it is better to read them or have them read for free by a parts store, then check the RAVE shop manual to know exactly what that code means. Otherwise you are throwing parts in dark. If you want to know more about the codes, follow links in my signature to the ECU manuals for the various Rovers.
