Default Shopping for a Discovery this weekend, what to look for?

Hello,

I'll be taking a look at this Discovery this weekend: http://www.sunnyvalemotorcars.com/ve...lifornia-94087

This would be my first Land Rover, what should I be looking for? Would it be in my best interest to take it for a pre-purchase inspection? How does the price seem to you guys? Any major concerns I should be looking for?

Thank you!

Well I found a different one and fell in love. 2004 Discovery, 58k on the clock. Engine and mechanics are sound. New tires, clean title and carfax. 30 day/1,000 warranty that covers the entire engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, etc. The only problems I found were:

Puncture marks on the back seats leather need to be fixed.
Slight fading on the roofs paint (the rest of the paint is perfect)
The front passenger seat will not go "up", but all other directions work.

I got it for $8400 + taxes and fees.

Mainly cosmetic issues, everything else is perfect and it will serve its purpose.

I'm very happy.

And never had a pre-purchase done. You are the type person that we usually see come back in a month or so complaining about all the problems they are having, ones that would have been found and known about prior to a purchase.
You better start do the major service posted at the top of this section along with rebuilding/replacing the front drive shaft before it fails and takes out your tranny.

Who said I didn't have a ppi done? Front drive shaft has been rebuilt already.

.
Front passenger seat does not have height adjustment, so that is normal.
