Default Skid Plates??

My newly purchased 02 Discovery ll has no skid plates?? The 1995 Montero SR that the Rover will eventually replace which I still own and love has skid plates from front to center. They have sure come in handy. Hell even my Wifes isuzu Rodeo has a few skid plates.

Whats up with LR?? and what about after market options? or is it custom made territory?

My '03 doesn't have them, either (S model). I thought they came with them, too.

No LR's come with skid plates. If you look under the trk you will see that everything is tucked up inside the frame out of harms way.
My '01 Montero had them as well, but the oilpan and fuel tank were the low points, still taller than the diff's, but low and vaurable none the less.
And yes there are after market skids plates for LR's.

I have run the Rubicon, lots of the Sierras, Death Valley, Moab and lots of Colorado and have yet to see the need to plate a Disco.
If need them that bad, I would suggest you go out with other drivers and learn how to pick the correct line to keep you from damaging your truck.
By the way, Disco's run hot and the front plating will cause them to overheat.
A good lift, tires diff guards and some sliders and you'll be set.

I was thinking the LR runs on the warm side. I have a lift on the way and the tires too. I need to research the Rock sliders. I try to pick the best lines but some times things happen, rocks role, vehicle slides. I have a fist size dent in the side of the gas tank(has skid and tank is tucked up into chassy but there is 3x18 inchs exposed on each side) on the Montero that I have no idea how it happined, just checked out the truck after a run and it was magicle there.

You should be able to pop out the dent in your fuel tank. There are some really great fuel tank plates made from 3/8th alloy instead of metal which will keep the weight down.
Are you planning on making the sliders?
Here is a link to the ones from, http://www.rovertym.com/
If you want to build your own, send me you e-mail address and I will send you some really great plans.
As for the diff guards, if you want them look for a set of Qt. diff guards.
