Small addition to Inline Thermostat Mod

Guys/Gals,

Small addition of things to the great writeup by jycsalas.

I'm not here to debate the merit of this mod - I like the idea, I did it, and I'm happy.

This is specifically geared to those of you that have complained of leaks with this mod.

So, I followed Josh's writeup until the top part of the mod. After looking at the other photos here, I was contemplating the leftovers from this job, and came up with the following:

The hose that used to connect the lower radiator to the thermostat has a U in it. With a little modification with a razor knife, it will connect from one end of T-stat housing to the upper radiator hose.

The hose that used to connect the water pump to the thermostat has a shape that allows it to feed from the pump to the glowshift sender. The other end of the U feeds right to the other side of the glowshift sender.

What this accomplishes is the hoses are NOT BENT OUT OF FORM and will allow them to do their jobs without leaking.

Hopefully it helps someone.

See pictures below.

Not to shabby. Definitely looks a whole lot cleaner as well.

I'm super pleased with it. We've had a really warm spring here in the A, and my aux fan used to kick on a good bit.

Now I never hear from it.

Now, on to the next case of "Rover-itis", whatever it may be:rolleyes:

What temps do you see on the move at good speed, and sitting in stop and go traffic (both usually found on the Indianapolis 285)?

ha.

truck is running right around 180. it likes 185. rarely it hits 190. the other day sitting in the hot baking sun waiting for my empanadas with the AC running full blast for almost 20 minutes it hit 195. not bad right.

i still have a hose connection leak from my mod and i'm looking for either a flexible hose or silicon hose to handle that short curve. i may do like atlanta here and redo the upper bit but it would mean i would need a new shroud. or i may invent a slightly new curve with all the hose bits I have. i've been topping off with distilled water in the meantime.
