So I did a thing

Well you see it all started when I was replacing the fuel pump. Noticed some rust. Then one thing led to another and now she's stripped down. Going to grind out the rust and re paint it with POR15 then install a ton of dynamat. Also wasted a chunk of change on eBay buying replacement plastic bits. Decided to fix the interior up correctly.

Good luck!

Dont use Dynamat unless you just have money to burn.
its just an over priced named brand
Something like this is just as good and cheaper -
Also know that these type products - Dynamat included - are vibration dampening only, not sound deadening - you'll want to layer a sound deadener on top if thats what you're looking for.
Vibration dampening can be sparcely placed while the sound dampening should cover completely.

I used the amazon noico brand and I’m happy with it , the dyno Mat I used on my cobra is way better but on these cars it’s really not worth the extra $$$

I’m going to need to do this, excited for your thread.

surprised you didn't find a "chunk of change" when taking the interior apart!

To be exact, I found
-Several rounds of 9mm
-Unwrapped condom
-Enough food to feed my dog for a day
-Some legos
-Various wrappers?
-Snap on 10 mm deep socket
-About $5 in change

abran 06-04-2019 05:53 PM

That snapon socket is worth its weight in gold!

POR15...plastic paint. I did not like it. especially not good for laying on anything except absolutely cleaned bare metal. There are other products like rust mort, followed by a few coats of good paint....

I’ve had good luck with por15 lasted 2-3 years and is just not starting to flake and I didn’t even prep as good as I should have , I’ll be re doing it soon with Eastwood products
