Did some detailing on the truck, little bit here and a little bit there. I used some TurtleWax lens cleaner on the headlights to clear up the haze. Painted the front bumper and brush bar and I did a temporary patch up job on the hole in the bumper. Filled the hole with spray foam insulation, then glued the plastic piece that fell out, back in place then painted over it. Not the cleanest patch up job but from a distance it looks reasonable and it should hold until I get the front bumper replaced later this year.

I used some Simple Green with water to scrub everything inside the truck clean. Seats, dash board, pillars, cup holders, floor mats etc. Then I used some vinyl/upholstery black paint on the seats, cup holders, rubber dash pieces and the rubber floor mats. The interior looks very refreshed now and the new coating of black looks beautiful. I was very happy with the results. The pics do not do any justice.

Right now Im dealing with the muffler. Had a leak so I did a half *** patch up job but that still was not good enough for NH state inspection. Even know you can buy exhaust patch kits in most stores, its illegal to patch up the exhaust and it will not pass NH inspection (at least thats what the guys at the shop said) So I ordered a cheap Borla muffler from Atlantic British. Tried installing it myself but the studs have rusted so bad that the heads of the bolts have dissolved. You cannot even fit a wrench or socket over the heads in order to loosen the bolts. They would surely snap off anyways so Im going to have my buddy do the job for me for $50. Swap out the muffler and install new bolts, new gasket and new rubber hanger piece. Once the muffler is installed the truck will get a clean sticker and bill of health.

The style 2 wheels I fitted a couple months ago look so much better now that I have the ceramic brake pads installed. Barely any brake dust so my wheels are shiny but not "bling". Cant wait to get those guard dog re-treads later this year. I can get 5 for just over $600 so I'm going to give them a try.

I've only seen maybe 5 Defender's with my own eyes and I'm proud to announce that somebody in the parkinglot at my work place owns a sexy Defender and its loaded!

 

 

I'm tempted to buy those military 37's....... 150$ a piece... so tempting.

 

Those bulletproof run-flats off the Hummer? My understanding is they won't deflect even with no air in them. They'll look rugged but they are supposedly pretty useless on the trails.

 

Those tires are not bullet proof nor are the run flats. They aren't great on the trail but they aren't the worst. Heavy as hell though

 

I'd never run them, but they look cool haha

 

Well, they're not really bulletproof, but they are stiff as heck and hard to air down, the compound wouldn't stick to rocks, but I think a fully built/armored disco could probably make them flex.


The newer bfg Baja hummer tires are better; They will air down nicer, have a good sticky rubber compound, but they aren't on the "take-off" market yet. So it looks like I'm still stuck paying $350 a tire, or going with tread wrights.

a couple more new pictures I took today. Switched out my old interior bulbs for LED bulbs. Looks much better than the old orange yellowish looking lights. Also made a pit stop at the Albacore Submarine exhibit in Portsmouth NH. Tiny *** sub in the grand scheme of Submarines but still fascinating.

 

Looks good! A little wax makes a Rover look awesome. Nice job.
