Default Squeaking Brakes Driving me Mad

Is there something about these trucks that causes squeaky brakes? I've spent roughly $600 on brakes trying to get the low-speed squeaking to stop to no avail. I've never had a vehicle that squeaked like this.

1. My Disco had original pads on it when I got it last year. At the time, it only had 64,000 miles on it, but it sat for 10 years. The brakes squeaked a little and I figured, they're nearly 18 years old, I should probably just replace them.

2. I bought TRW pads and had the rotors turned. This brand of pad worked well on my 2004 Jaguar XJR so I figured they'd be good on the Disco. Nope. Worst squeaking brakes I've ever had. Horrible sounds. Amigos often.

3. Last week I finally got around to replacing everything (again). I bought the highly recommended Akebono pads and some new Bendix rotors, front and rear. At first, it was silent. Whoo hoo. Nipped that in the bud! While doing some off roading, I heard a slight squeak. Then, a pretty regular low-speed squeak anytime I went down a steep decline. Now, they squeak on the road at low-speed.

And, yes, I lubed the back of the pads using the Akebono lube.

WTF is up with the brakes on these things? Anyone else have this problem?

Did you properly break in the pads/rotors after you got it all back together? You drive, then stop from like 30, 40, and up to 50MPH getting the brakes hot. Then you drive and let them cool down. That allows the pads and rotors to set. Also a lot of the rotors come with a light coat of oil on them. You must remove that or else you could glaze over your pads.

I did remove the shipping coating from the rotors (made that mistake in the past). Normally I would bed the brakes in. Each manufacturer has a different process. Akebono specifically says there's no bed in process. Just drive normally. And that's what I did.

Kind of odd, l've never had squealing brakes on any of my Dll's. First thing would be...determining if it is front or rear. You mention amigos...you may have a bad hub. Have you ever read codes for ABS/TC?

In the past it was both front and rear. I'm not sure this time but I'll narrow it down. The hubs are good. No slack in them and they spin nicely when on a jack. The amigos get triggered from the squeaking. It's a wheel speed sensor code that gets triggered as soon as they squeak.

I installed a front big brake kit on my Jeep JK and after a 100 miles, they started squealing. I found it was only the front left. After 6 months when I couldn't take it anymore, I removed the pads and ran them across a flat piece of 320 grit emory cloth (black sandpaper) on the garage floor. Wiped the rotor down really good with brake clean and put it back together. Went for a drive on a back road and seated them in. 30mph and hard stop - three times. Did the same at 45mph and then 60mph. No squealing and it's been 1000 miles.

I might give that a try of this persists. Seems to have quieted down on my last drive.

Are your guide pins lubed and moving freely?

Yep, I lubed the guide pins. Everything looked good and no pistons stuck or anything. It seems to have stopped now. I guess I'll find out if it's resolved once I go off road again.
