squeaky or chirping sound coming tranny????

Ok tried checking belt pulleys not them the sound is coming from the back of engine I don't know what a torque converter sounds like if its going out I am going to try to video the sound so I can put on here for you guys to help me out will be easier to let you listen than trying to explain the sound

97.5% chance your front drive shaft if failing.

Has it ever been replaced with a serviceable one?

If not address this quickly before it knocks a hole in your tranny.

You can either rebuild it (PITA) or get an aftermarket unit for under $300

Yes front shaft is new and so is the rear the chirp or squeak happens when it has been started does it when sitting in park or neutral or in gear and when you hit bumps like railroad tracks gonna record it this morning here in 20 mins

I've got a touch of this faint warbling chirping as well. Worsens under load/torque. Rebuilding both drive shafts (new greaseable U-joints and centering ball) and keeping lubed with high-temp green stuff hasn't changed a thing.

Now, I don't rebuild driveshafts for a living, but all things considered, I'm inclined to suspect something else before doubting my work.

Dusty, a transmission mount will make a chirp like this?

x2 on the mounts

dusty1 02-04-2015 01:19 PM

usually just adds to vibration, but noise possible too. I was just trying to think of anything that would make noise while not moving. that is what you are saying? chirping while sitting idle? exhaust is another.
you can upload your video to youtube or something and give us a link.

Sorry, to clarify, mine only happens when moving and worsens under load such as ascending a hill. I'll have a look at the mounts anyway.
