Default Squeaky noise when Accelerating

Whenever I'm at a complete stop and start to accelerate i hear a squeaking noise coming from underneath likes somethings dryed out. It never makes the sound when I'm idle or in neutral giving it gas only when i accelerate there is also a tiny bit of vibration that. I thought it might be the brakes so i change them all out also changed the oil and the transmission still doing it.

WARNING your are about ready to have drive shaft failure
Most likely the front driveshaft has not been greased or is just worn out check both drive shafts for lubricant and remove the front and replace the U joints with greaseable units.
Dont wait as this front shaft failure will also take out your transmission

He is right - don't think just do it... Call Tom Woods and get the Conventional Double Cardan shaft for like $389. And then grease it every time you change the oil.

How many miles do you have and what year is you truck?

Its been a while since I last looked but I thought a LR replacement shaft from the dealer was like $800. Could be wrong...

Here is what I got from TW:

I have a picture of this one sitting next to the stock one and its much bigger/tougher, can't seem to find the picture though.

Honestly if it were me I would just buck-up and buy the shaft, although he does offer 3 options for your truck. You can see all at this site: http://www.4xshaft.com/index.html.

I think the options are like $299, $389, and $500 - or close to that.

From everything I have heard, read, and experienced myself I would buy a whole new shaft at 125,000 if I didn't already have one. This is top 5 issue with our Disco's for sure.

I really hope that I could help and didn't come across as a dick - LOL. Have a great night and good luck.

You can pull the front shaft and take it to a driveline shop and have it re-built with greasable joints. It should only run you around $250. You have to pull it (or have your mechanic do it) but it will be ok after that..

To the guy with the 99, if it has the zerks, just make sure it is greased, along with the centering ball, unless you have a 99 D1. then just grease the 2 joints

Listening to the video I can say that's not the same noise I had, but it could still be the shaft. My thought is if it costs $250 to rebuild your stock shaft why not pay another $125 and get a much tougher new one with 5 spots to grease it?

As far as grease, really anything in a 14oz tube would work. Just go down to your auto parts store and get the good stuff. I use Mobile1 and I know the number "22" is in the model #.

Good Luck-
