Started soundproofing today. Thought I would throw up some pics. Yeah I know you don't have to cover 100% of the roof with this stuff for sound dampening but the temperature difference was about 20 degrees so I thought I would plaster it on for heat reduction. Going to do closed cell foam over this stuff on the top and the foam and mass loaded vinyl on the bottom. The bare metal roof. Where the dampening was.
I did a sloppy job with mine. One thing in particular I wish I had tested before I put everything back together: I seemed to have blocked the key fob receiver. So now I have to be really close to the truck in order for it to work. So not sure where that receiver is located, but I would definitely make sure it is not covered by foil. Good luck!

It's the small black box visible behind the rear sunroof, you can see it's uncovered in his picture.
You may be able to push the radiant barrier away from yours(wooden paint stirring stick)and uncover it by gently pulling down on the headliner, in the center, behind the rear sunroof.
You should be able to reach it and not have to remove the headliner.
If you are looking for sound dampening, stuff rock-wool type insulation in the pockets of the body, in particuar, by the alpine windows. It made a huge difference to me. Or, it was the placebo effect. For $20 it could not hurt.
It's easier if you put it on top of the headliner board.
And it only needs enough glue or tape just to hold it while you put the headliner back in.
Since what he's using is stick on - he's getting the vibration dampening affect which this is designed for.
The foil provides the insulation as well so bonus.
Closed cell foam over the top of this layer provides the actual sound dampening.
On all other surfaces, as he commented, you dont have to cover it with this for vibration dampening, just small pieces every so many inches apart.
Then you cover the entire surface with closed cell foam for SOUND dampening.
Most people confuse the two as one and the products and their intentions are unique to each other.

I'm looking at it as heat reduction and ease of install, as my 04 is very quiet inside stock...but black on black and Very hot inside, even with great AC.
But yes, for sound deadening, directly on the inner roof panel is ideal.
I have it on the floor and side panels in the back all the way to the transmission tunnel(I still need to finish it).
