Default Steering Popping

Ill start off by saying hello to everyone, I just got my 99 disco II a few weeks ago. I was pulling into the gas station and as I was turning in, it popped real loud. Since that happened it pops when I turn, and seems to do it more when I am turning at slow speeds.

I did use the search bar, so please don't just tell me to use that. Thank you for your help in advance.

I second the CV joint. May want to look at your sway bar links. Although a bad link would present more of a bang than a pop note. So. Back to cv joint. How may miles on the truck?

When you run over a bump or pothole, do you hear the same noise?

Default Check your panhard bushings

I was having the same with my 2000 DII, was under it today and noticed the new panhard bushings are loose inside the bar. Grab the bar and try to shake it, push toward the rear and pull toward the front. Check both ends.

I have 175k and my sway bar has been taken off. I did notice the rubber boots on the ball joints are about gone. I drove it work this morning and it didnt seem to make the sound as much. I just hope it isnt the cv joints.

If your CV boots are gone I would fix them asap, without them they won't hold grease and the will let in all kinds of water dust sand and dirt! So if you joint aren't done yet they will be soon!

My D1 would do the same thing. I replaced the tie rods and all is well. Check the boots on your ball joints.

Not going to like to hear it, but a loud popping on a turn in is most likely the CV joint.

Had it happen on my ZJ Cherokee, the replacement was the entire axle shaft. Not a big deal, and an easy fix to boot, but I wasn't paying Land Rover prices either.

Good luck!

Ok, so i took the CV axel out and doesnt make any grinding noises when i move it around. There was a nick in the boot but i think i did that while taking it out. So first question is: how to replace the boot and second: what's making the noise?
I'm certain the noise is coming from passenger's side. I do have a new Tom Wood's driveshaft.
