Default still can't figure this out need some help!

so i've drained the coolant refilled and bled per the instructions and i am still overheating. however, i am 99% sure all the air is out, i got coolant coming out of the bleed plug when filling and the top radiator hose is hot when it comes up to temperature. but there is still no heat coming out! you can drive it for about a mile or so and then all of a sudden it just goes into the red zone. i changed the thermostat also during this repair so it seems like that should be fine. any ideas what could be causing this? i don't have any symptoms of a blown head gasket so i'm hoping this is just something small that i need to figure out. any help would be appreciated.

I think I'm going to start re-quoting the relevant parts of people's posts to give them their own answers.

It's not the coolant....
Have you done a block test to check for combustion gasses in the coolant?

You can buy a test kit at an auto store, or take it to a shop to run the test. Basically it just tests for signs of combustion gasses in your coolant.
Your symptoms point to blown head gasket.

Were you just trying to replace your coolant or were you fixing a problem?

As for your issue, if you want, send me your number and I'll call you back and walk you thru your trucks issues.

it all started with a bad water pump. it overheated and i had to have it towed home. i replaced the water pump, thermostat. also changed the oil because it was a little cooked. and while i was in there changed the plugs and wires . my oil pressure light was coming on for a little bit but since i changed the oil i havent had a problem with that so i'm guessing that was just a result of the cooked oil. i went back in with shell rotella t 15w-40 and a landrover filter.
