Still overheating
So.... It continues
I replaced the t-stat (second time now). Everything was nice and easy and I started purging the system of air. I opened both the expansion tank and the little plug on the radiator. I started the car and turned the heat on. I waited for the hose to get really hot (the coolant was def flowing) and I waited for the coolant to come out of the hole on top of the radiator. I put the plug back in and then did the same with the expansion tank. Drove the car a little bit and then parked it - it started overheating again. Tried to purge it again - no good. However when i was pulling back into the parking spot I swear I heard a sloshing noise. Both fans are working the t-stat is operational. So I am thinking I still have air trapped in there but I can't seem to get rid of it. When I purge it the car starts overheating and I am afraid to keep it running. I would hate to take it to a dealer and I don't know any Rover mechanics in South Jersey. Any thoughts?

shark, when your engine is cold, take off your heater hoses where they go into the firewall and swap them, then let the car get hot and hold 3000 rpm for a few minutes, then drive it for a bit, should fix your slosh
Also, when purging the air from the system, do it when the engine is cold, fill the coolant bottle, with the bleeder screw removed, till coolant comes from the bleed screw, replace the bleed screw then the coolant cap, then start the engine, let it warm up with the heaters both set at full hot.
That should take care of the issue.
I agree with Roverguy about switching the hose, but don't like doing it cause there is too much change of damage to the hose, cause they are old or the heater core pipe.

i don't get the switch hose's. i just replaced te hose's on the entire cooling sysem, but i have the same problem as alanski. I dont over heat bad, but i hear the sloshing and i have purged and replcaed the t-sat, i tried the bleed, i will now try with the nose up hill, but whats with the hose swap?
yeah mike, its not hard to damage the hoses, even if you dont puncture clear through and just the inner layer, the hose will begin to wick, and youll leak, also heater pipes can be bent. if someone decides to do this, you need to use a lot of car with those hoses, they can be real hard to remove sometimes.
